As a yoga instructor specialized in yoga for cancer, my goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and empowering space for those affected by cancer to discover the benefits of yoga.At every stage of the cancer journey, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond, yoga can play a valuable role in improving physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Whether you are a cancer survivor, currently undergoing treatment, or a caregiver or loved one, practicing yoga can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, alleviate pain and fatigue, and enhance quality of life.My approach to teaching yoga for cancer is grounded in evidence-based practices that are tailored to each individual's unique needs and abilities. I draw from a range of yoga styles, including gentle and restorative yoga, as well as meditation and breathwork techniques, to help students cultivate a sense of calm, relaxation, and self-awareness.Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, I invite you to explore the transformative benefits of yoga for cancer with me.

The Tibetan yoga of movement

Yantra Yoga, an ancient and revered system originating from Tibet and developed in the West by the Tibetan Dzogchen Master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, stands as one of the oldest recorded yoga systems globally, rooted deeply in the profound Buddhist heritage of the region. It integrates a distinctive series of postures and movements coupled with deliberate breathing techniques, aimed at coordinating and balancing our prana or vital energy, allowing the mind to seek genuine equilibrium. While some positions resemble those found in Hatha Yoga, the approach and application within Yantra Yoga differ significantly, offering a unique path to attaining mental relaxation and authentic balance.At the heart of Yantra Yoga lies a series of movements intricately intertwined with specific breathing patterns, emphasising deliberate breath retentions within each posture. These practices operate at profound, subtle levels, aligning with the Dzogchen Teachings. Despite its deep connections with these teachings, Yantra Yoga remains accessible to practitioners of all backgrounds, making it an inclusive practice open to anyone seeking its benefits.The diverse repertoire of Yantra Yoga movements goes beyond spiritual boundaries, offering a practical route for individuals to nurture physical vitality, mental serenity, and inner balance. Guided by the wisdom of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, it encourages a deeper connection with oneself and a harmonious mind-body relationship—an ancient philosophy passed down through generations for personal well-being and inner harmony.

About Me

I'm Mariela, a yoga teacher, Respira Method instructor, and English translator. Since the age of 16, I've been dedicated to the practice of yoga, discovering its remarkable ability to transform lives.In 2014, I had the incredible opportunity to meet my Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, which marked a significant turning point in my journey. During this time, I also had the privilege of working closely with Fabio Andrico, a close student of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and one of the principal international instructors of Yantra Yoga. For three fulfilling years starting in 2017, I studied and collaborated with Fabio in Tenerife.Fabio Andrico's guidance and expertise shaped my understanding of the transformative power of yoga. Through his teachings, I delved into the Respira Method, a comprehensive and accessible breathwork system that promotes overall well-being. In 2020, I received authorization to teach this method, enabling me to share its benefits with others.Yoga has held a special place in my life, especially during a time when I faced personal health challenges. It became an integral part of my healing journey, offering strength and a renewed sense of well-being. This firsthand experience has deepened my understanding of the profound impact yoga can have on the body, energy and mind.In 2022, I completed the RYT 200h Yoga Teachers Training at the Yoga Teachers College. Additionally, I pursued specialized training in yoga for cancer with Adriana Jarrín, the creator of the Yoga for Cancer program for the Radika Foundation in Barcelona, Spain. In 2023, I was authorised by Fabio Andrico to teach Lungsang, or the 8 Movements of Yantra Yoga, the Tibetan Yoga of Movement.My passion lies in applying ancient wisdom to our modern lives. I am dedicated to helping individuals thrive physically and mentally through the practice of yoga, particularly those who may be facing their own health journeys. I invite you to join me on this transformative path as we explore the profound connection between mind and body, unlocking our true potential together.
